Shop images for Meta, in one shape per product.
In Shops on Facebook and Instagram, product images are shown square, Meta recommends a white backdrop and allows lifestyle images, and it asks for all images of a product in one aspect ratio, square or four by five. Product studio takes a phone photo of a product and delivers it on studio white or in a scene, in either shape.
What Meta asks of a product's images.
- 1
One aspect ratio per product
Meta asks for every image of a product in the same aspect ratio, square or four by five, to prevent automatic adjustments. Choose the shape before ordering and keep it for the white image, the scenes and any on-model view; Extend frame converts an image made in another shape without cropping.
- 2
White first, scenes after
The backdrop Meta recommends is white, and its catalogue help asks for a clear image that shows the entire product. Product studio on studio white delivers that image; marble, wood, linen, a podium, outdoors or a home setting then supply the lifestyle images Meta allows.
- 3
Nothing printed on the image
Text over the product, calls to action, promo codes, watermarks and temporary price information are not allowed. Product studio adds no text, and images made on a plan or with a credit pack carry no watermark; images made on free credits do, and are for trying the tool.

The product photo behind a Meta catalogue.
- Photograph the product whole with space around it, so that the square and the four-by-five shape can both be made without cutting an edge.
- A table, a hand or a box in the photo is not a problem: Product studio is briefed to use only the product, so start from a sharp photo rather than a tidy one.
- Photograph labels and small print in a second, closer photo; a detail close-up is uploaded with the product and shows the brief the lettering at the right scale.
Facebook and Instagram Shop photos, answered.
Can people wearing the product appear in Meta Shop images?
Yes. Meta allows lifestyle images such as people using or wearing the product. Virtual try-on puts a garment, a bag, shoes, glasses or jewelry on a studio model from the same product photo; deliver those images in the same aspect ratio as the product's other images.
How many images can one product photo yield for Meta?
As many as the product needs: a white main image, scenes on several surfaces and, for fashion, worn views from Virtual try-on. Meta asks for at least one image per product and recommends four or more; each of them is ordered from the same upload.
Should the JPG or the PNG go to a Meta catalogue?
Meta accepts both and suggests JPEG over PNG where possible, so the JPG download is the one to use. A transparent PNG from Remove background is the exception: it is for pages where a cut-out product is placed on a design, not for the catalogue itself.
How much does it cost?
4 credits per image, plus one credit for 4K. In US dollars that is $0.16 to $0.48 per image before tax, from the largest plan to the smallest credit pack. The cost is shown before you generate, and if a job fails the credits are returned. The 20 free credits at sign-up cover 5 images with this tool.
