An eBay gallery built from one photo.
eBay sets a minimum picture size, recommends a larger one and gives each listing a long gallery, but nothing may be added on top of a picture: no badge, logo, copyright notice or watermark. Herofab's packshot studio makes a clean product image from a phone photo, then further views from the same source.
What an eBay picture may and may not carry.
- 1
Nothing stamped across the picture
eBay does not allow badges, logos, copyright notices or watermarks added to a listing picture. A shop name stamped across a photo to protect it is such an addition. Herofab images made on a plan or with a credit pack have nothing placed over them; free-credit images are watermarked and should stay out of a listing.
- 2
The recommended size, square or wide
eBay's minimum is small, its recommended size considerably larger, and it names square and wide landscape as the proportions that suit its pages. A packshot is usually made square, and the eBay download delivers that square in the recommended size without cropping. A long product can also be composed in landscape when the image is made.
- 3
Room for many views
A listing needs at least one picture and has space for many more. From one source photo the packshot studio offers a front, three-quarter, side and top-down view, on white or on a ground such as wood, linen or marble. Each generated view is compared with the item before it is listed, because all of them are built from the same photograph.

One photograph to feed the whole gallery.
- Photograph the item whole and straight on, with every edge inside the frame; each gallery view is made from this file, and a hidden part cannot be added back faithfully.
- Add a back photo and a detail close-up to the upload when the item has a second side or a marking worth showing; the front remains the required view.
- Shoot in daylight with the flash off, so colour and surface finish are recorded as they are; the delivered picture is briefed to keep what the photo shows.
Product photos for eBay, answered.
What size is the picture downloaded for eBay?
The size eBay recommends. After delivery, eBay is picked from the marketplace sizes and the file is generated from the delivered image, with nothing cropped away. eBay's minimum is far below that size, and its limit on file weight and its accepted formats are listed in the table on this page.
What can the gallery hold besides the white packshot?
The packshot studio also places the product in a setting: studio grey or beige, marble, wood, linen, a podium, outdoors, a home interior or the seller's own background. Whatever the setting, eBay's rule on additions holds for the picture: no badge, logo, copyright notice or watermark on top of it.
How is a picture checked before it goes into an eBay listing?
Two checks, both by the seller. Herofab's free image size checker reads the file in the browser, without uploading it, and tests it against eBay's published rules. Then the picture is held against the item: Herofab is briefed to keep shape, colours, materials and every logo and label, and small text is the first detail to compare.
How much does it cost?
4 credits per image, plus one credit for 4K. The cost is shown before you generate, and if a job fails the credits are returned. The 20 free credits at sign-up cover 5 images with this tool.
Your next collection, shot this week.
20 credits at sign-up, no card required. Images made with free credits carry a watermark.
