Choose a marketplace and a photo.
Rules come from each marketplace's own help pages, summarised in the guides (checked 11 October 2026). Size, file size and format are checked as well.

- Main image
- White background (recommended)
- Main image
- The whole product in frame, nothing cut off (recommended)
- Size
- At least 500 × 500 pixels; in Shops on Facebook and Instagram images are displayed square (1:1), and 1,024 × 1,024 pixels is recommended
- Formats
- JPEG or PNG; Meta suggests JPEG over PNG where possible
- File size
- 8 MB maximum
- Number
- At least one image per product, and 4 or more are recommended; Meta's catalogue help page allows up to 20 additional image links, its developer reference up to 50
- Main image
- Clear, and showing the entire product
- Background
- Meta recommends product images with a white backdrop; lifestyle images, such as people using or wearing the product, may be included
- Not allowed
- Text that overlays the product, calls to action, promo codes, watermarks or time-sensitive information such as temporary price drops; offensive content such as nudity, explicit language or violence
- Consistency
- All images in the same aspect ratio, 1:1 or 4:5, to prevent automatic adjustments
How each rule is measured.
- Background colour
- The background colour is the median of a thin band along all four edges. A pure-white rule passes only when that band is RGB 255, 255, 255; near-white values such as 253 are reported with their exact colour.
- Cut-off edges
- A product whose outline reaches the edge of the frame is reported as cut off, together with the edges it touches.
- Scene photos
- Room and lifestyle photos have no plain background to measure against, so fill, edges and shadow are marked as not measured rather than guessed.
