The garment lifted off the floor, nothing redrawn.
Most clothing photos are taken where there is room: on a floor, across a bed, on a hanger against a door. Remove background takes the room away and delivers the garment as a transparent PNG, on white or on grey. The garment is not redrawn, so the result is the seller's own photo on a new ground.
What stays when the room goes.

Creases and the shape as laid
The cut-out is the garment as it lay: a jumper with one sleeve bent, trousers with a fold at the knee, a dress whose skirt was spread unevenly. Ripples pressed in by the duvet underneath stay in the cloth. Steam the garment and arrange it symmetrically first, because the tool removes surroundings, not creases.

Hangers, clips and hooks
A hanger inside the neckline is part of the photo: its hook rises above the collar, and the clips of a trouser hanger grip the waistband. What is photographed with the garment stays with it. Decide whether that suits the listing; a flat lay avoids the question, and a slim hanger in a neutral colour is the next choice.

Knit, fringe and lace edges
A chunky knit has a fuzzy outline, a scarf ends in fringe, and lace or broderie lets the floor show through its holes. These are the edges the cut-out is briefed to keep, and the first to check. View the result on a dark and on a light ground and look for carpet or bedding left inside the openwork.
Photographing a garment before the background is removed.
- Lay the garment on a surface that differs from it in tone, a dark blanket under pale knitwear or a light sheet under denim, and smooth both the cloth and what lies under it.
- Stand over the centre of the garment and hold the phone level, far enough away that sleeves, hem and collar are all inside the frame.
- Use daylight from a window without direct sun and switch off the room lamp, so the fabric carries no yellow tint or hard shadow into the cut-out.
Remove background from clothing photos, answered.
Does the hanger disappear with the background?
Not as a rule. The garment is cut out as photographed and not rebuilt, so a hook above the collar stays in the picture. For a garment shown without a hanger, photograph it flat, or use Ghost mannequin, which starts from a hanger or flat-lay photo and delivers a hollow-body shape or a clean flat lay.
When is Ghost mannequin the better tool for a garment photo?
When the garment should look filled out instead of flat. Remove background leaves a shirt lying as it was laid. Ghost mannequin takes the same hanger or flat-lay photo and delivers a 3D hollow-body shape or a clean flat lay, front or back, on a white, grey, black or beige backdrop. It is for garments only.
Is a photo taken on a patterned duvet or carpet usable?
Any product photo can be uploaded, and a busy surface is removed like a plain one. The outline is easier to follow when the surface contrasts with the garment and has no pattern in the garment's own colours. With a patterned ground, check the edges closely, above all on knitwear and lace.
