Resize an image to 9:16 aspect ratio.
Drop your photos and download them in the 9:16 aspect ratio. Each photo keeps all its pixels at their own size; padding is added on the short side until the shape is 9:16, so nothing is cropped, enlarged or reduced. It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

From a phone photo to 9:16.
Common 12-megapixel phone photo shapes brought to 9:16: the size of the downloaded file and the padding added on each side (↔ left + right, ↕ top + bottom). The photo keeps its own pixels, so the output size follows the photo. The tool above uses the same calculation.
| Phone photo | Output size | Padding |

Which platforms ask for the 9:16 aspect ratio?
Wix, Google Ads, YouTube, Snapchat ads, Amazon Ads, and Walmart Connect. The table on this page gives each rule in full and links to the platform's guide.
What size is the image after resizing to 9:16?
It depends on the photo: its pixels stay and padding is added until the shape is 9:16. A 4,032 × 3,024 px phone photo becomes 4,032 × 7,168 px, with 2,072 px of padding at the top and 2,072 px at the bottom.
Is the photo scaled or cropped when resizing to 9:16?
Neither. The photo keeps every pixel at its original size and the padding colour fills the added area, so the whole product stays in frame and a small photo is not blurred by enlarging.
