Compress an image to 1 MB.
Drop your photos and download each one as a JPG under 1 MB. The quality is lowered first and the pixel dimensions only when that is not enough; the photo is never cropped. It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Under 1 MB per image, saved as JPG
Limits come from each platform's own help pages, summarised in the guides (checked 24 September 2026).
Who asks for 1 MB.
Lines from Herofab's platform guides that name 1 MB, as a limit, a recommendation or one end of a range. Each row links to the guide and its official source.
| Platform | Rule | What the guide says | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Etsy | File size | Files over 1 MB may not finish uploading on a slow connection | 10 October 2026 |
| YouTube | Video watermark | A square image of at least 150 × 150 pixels and less than 1 MB | 12 October 2026 |
| Lightspeed eCom | File size | 25 MB maximum per image on eCom (C-Series); keeping images under 1 MB is recommended for page speed | 12 October 2026 |
| Walmart Connect | Sponsored Brands logo | Minimum image size 300 × 180 pixels, in landscape, square or portrait shapes from 16:9 to 9:16, on a transparent or white background; maximum file size 1 MB, 200 KB recommended | 12 October 2026 |
| Walmart Connect | Brand Shop carousel and category hub | Hero carousel images must be at least 1,494 × 894 pixels, JPG or PNG, 10 MB maximum; category hub images are a minimum of 1,160 × 1,160 pixels at 1:1 with a maximum file size of 1 MB | 12 October 2026 |
| Walmart Connect | File size | Onsite Display: 150 KB maximum for an image and 50 KB for a logo; Brand Shop banners: 10 MB maximum; Sponsored Brands logo: 1 MB maximum | 12 October 2026 |
| Mailchimp | File size | A maximum of 1 MB per image is recommended; the content studio takes uploads of images up to 1 MB each and other file types up to 10 MB each | 12 October 2026 |
| Klaviyo | File size | Maximum 10 MB per image; 1 MB or smaller is recommended because larger images can load slowly | 12 October 2026 |
| Wolf & Badger | File size | Less than 1 MB | 12 October 2026 |
| Folksy | File size | Ideally between 1 MB and 5 MB; images over 5 MB may fail to upload | 12 October 2026 |
| Omnisend | Animated GIFs | GIFs are supported; keep the file size under 1 MB, and editing a GIF in the Image Editor saves it as a static image | 12 October 2026 |
1 MB in numbers.
Counted as the compressor counts: 1 KB is 1,000 bytes and 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes. Bits per pixel divides the limit in bits by the pixels of a 12-megapixel phone photo (4,032 × 3,024 px) kept at full size; the uncompressed size counts 3 bytes per pixel.
- Bytes
- 1,000,000
- Bits
- 8,000,000
- Pixels in a 12-megapixel phone photo
- 4,032 × 3,024 = 12,192,768
- Bits per pixel at full size
- 8,000,000 ÷ 12,192,768 = 0.656
- Uncompressed, 3 bytes per pixel
- 36,578,304 bytes, 36.6 times the limit

Which platforms ask for 1 MB?
Etsy, YouTube, Lightspeed eCom, Walmart Connect, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Wolf & Badger, Folksy, and Omnisend. The table on this page gives each rule in full and links to the platform's guide.
How many bytes is 1 MB?
1,000,000 bytes: the compressor counts 1 MB as 1,000,000 bytes, the stricter of the two common readings. Counted in units of 1,024, 1 MB would be 1,048,576 bytes, so a file under 1,000,000 bytes is under the limit on either count.
How many bits per pixel does 1 MB leave for a 12-megapixel photo?
0.656, if the photo keeps all 12,192,768 pixels (4,032 × 3,024): 8,000,000 bits divided by 12,192,768. Uncompressed, at 3 bytes per pixel, the photo is 36,578,304 bytes, 36.6 times the limit. The compressor lowers the JPG quality first and reduces the pixel dimensions only when that is not enough.
