Recommended
Full-width images between 600 and 1,000 pixels wide and less than 2,000 pixels high; images narrower than the full width of the email can be smaller than 600 pixels
Template width
The default width of every email template is 600 pixels; Klaviyo automatically scales images down to the template width with the aspect ratio preserved
File size
Maximum 10 MB per image; 1 MB or smaller is recommended because larger images can load slowly
Formats
JPEG, PNG and GIF; a WebP file can be uploaded and converted to PNG, except animated WebP; PSD or SVG files must be converted to a supported type first
Animated GIFs
Animated GIFs work in emails as long as they are less than 5 MB; automatic image compression isn't supported for GIFs
Resolution
72 dpi is best practice across the web
Image quality
For crisper rendering, insert an image at 2x the desired size and reduce it in the template, for example 600 pixels wide displayed at 300 pixels
Crop
Images in image, split and table blocks can be cropped to a circle, a square or a rectangle with a custom width and height; the full image is preserved
Dark mode
One option is to use image files that include background colours rather than a transparent background, filling the space completely, for example 600 pixels wide for full-width images

What Klaviyo asks for, covered.

Klaviyo recommends full-width email images between 600 and 1,000 pixels wide and under 2,000 pixels high, and files of 1 MB or less. Herofab's square 2K output is 2,048 × 2,048 pixels, larger on both sides, so it has to be resized before upload; the JPG download is the lighter file. Klaviyo suggests inserting an image at twice its display size, which is 1,200 pixels for a 600-pixel template; 2K output is wider than that.

01

Resize before upload

Square 2K output is 2,048 × 2,048 pixels, above the 600 to 1,000 pixels wide and under 2,000 high Klaviyo recommends.

02

Lighter as JPG

Klaviyo recommends files of 1 MB or less; the JPG download is lighter than the PNG.

03

Enough for 2x

Twice a 600-pixel template is 1,200 pixels; 2K output is wider than that.
