Zalando jewellery: the packshot comes first.
Zalando does not accept a model image as the first image of a jewellery article: the catalogue view is a primary packshot. These are the rules from Zalando's jewellery image guide and the jewellery section of its accessories guide, grouped by what they affect.
01 · ZalandoCatalogue view and packshot
Source: Zalando Partner University — Jewellery image guide · checked 14 October 2026
- Catalogue view
- One compliant primary packshot; a front crop on a model is not allowed as the catalogue view for jewellery
- Image count
- The primary packshot plus two further compliant images; duplicating images to meet the count leads to rejection
- Background
- Primary packshots have a white background; packshot views in colours from Zalando's background colour range are accepted as additional views only
- Position
- The primary packshot is centred vertically and positioned in the lower third of the image grid

- Light
- A white background with light shadows is recommended to bring out details and symmetry; avoid overexposure
- Preparation
- No dust and no scratches; each article presented with emphasised symmetry
- Angles
- Each article shown from multiple angles, focusing on fasteners, engravings and decorative elements
- Inside and fasteners
- The inside of the jewellery and the fasteners fully visible, in the images or through a description of the fastener type
- Material and colour
- The finish visible, whether matt or shiny; the article colour matches the colour shown
03 · ZalandoSets, watches and model views

- Sets
- A primary packshot clearly showing all items included, and a back view in which the fasteners of each article can be seen
- Logos
- Brand logos are not shown upside down
- Watches
- Battery-operated watches always need a CE label, clearly visible in at least one image, on the watch or its packaging; automatic watches do not
- Model views
- The full length and size of the article always shown, with poses that, where possible, show features such as fasteners and engravings
- Advent calendars
- Primary packshot from the front, slightly angled at most, on white, with the calendar itself in focus

- Model crop
- The model's body can be cropped, but the article must stay recognisable
Images that follow these rules.
Herofab's product studio places a piece of jewellery or a watch on a white, grey or beige studio background and is briefed to keep the shape, the metal colour and finish and every stone, and for watches the dial, hands, case and strap. The jewelry studio puts earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets on a model in a close frame, for the further views. Images download at 1,801 × 2,600 pixels as JPG, Zalando's best-practice size.
Zalando jewellery, answered.
Can a model image be the first image for jewellery on Zalando?
No. Zalando's jewellery image guide requires one compliant primary packshot as the catalogue view and states that a front crop is not allowed as the catalogue view for jewellery.
Do watches need a CE label image on Zalando?
Battery-operated watches do: at least one image must show the CE label clearly, on the watch or on its packaging. Automatic watches do not require a CE label.
Which background should a jewellery packshot have?
Zalando's jewellery guide asks for a white background on primary packshots and recommends light shadows to bring out details. Zalando's general image guidelines add that a light grey background is applied automatically to primary packshots submitted on white.
