Products on wood, warm and plain.
A wooden surface gives a product a warm, natural base and suits brands that sell on craft and materials. Herofab places the product from a phone photo on wood, at the angle chosen, with the shape, the colours and the label lettering briefed to stay as photographed.
What a wooden surface changes.
- 1
Warm tone, true colour
Wood throws a warm cast, which flatters amber glass, leather and gold, and can push white, silver and cool blue towards yellow. The product is briefed to keep its colours. Compare a white cap or a silver case with the real thing before the image is published.
- 2
Grain against small text
Wood grain runs in lines, and behind a low, flat product those lines sit right next to the label. Text has to stay crisp and upright. Read every word on the result, the small print as well, and choose a front angle if the top-down view crowds the label.

Brown products on brown
A tan wallet, a wooden comb or a cork-stoppered jar can sink into the surface. The soft contact shadow separates the two; no shadow leaves them to merge. If the edge is still hard to find, marble, linen or a studio ground gives more contrast.
Photographing a product for a wooden scene.
- Place the product on a plain surface in even daylight and photograph the side that carries the label or the face, square to the camera.
- Close lids and caps unless the open product is the point, and wipe fingerprints from glass and metal before the shot.
- Keep the whole product in the frame with some space around it; a base or a cap cut off by the edge of the photo cannot be added back faithfully.
Wood background product photos, answered.
Which products look right on wood?
Products with a natural or handmade story: skincare in glass, candles, soaps, leather goods, watches with leather straps, ceramics and wooden accessories. Very glossy or technical products usually read better on a studio ground or with a reflection.
Can the wood image be the only image of the product?
It works better next to a plain one. A styled surface sets a mood, and a buyer still wants a clean view of the product alone. A packshot on white for the main image and a wooden scene among the further images cover both.
Can I supply my own wooden table as the background?
Yes. Next to the built-in wood scene there is the option of the seller's own background image. Upload a photo of the table or the shelf and the product is placed in it; the product itself is briefed to stay as photographed.
