Products on marble, no slab required.
Marble is the surface of choice for fragrance, skincare, watches and jewelry: cool, pale and quietly veined. Herofab places the product from a phone photo on a marble surface, with the angle and the shadow chosen, and is briefed to keep the product itself unchanged.
What marble asks of a product.
- 1
Veins and fine detail
Marble veining is a pattern of thin grey lines, and so are a watch strap's stitching, a chain and the lettering on a label. They should never merge. On the result, follow the edge of the product all the way round and see that no vein continues into it.
- 2
Reflections on glass and metal
A polished surface reflects what stands on it. A reflection under a bottle or a watch can be chosen as the shadow style, and it should mirror the product, not redraw it. Compare the reflected label or dial with the real one, or choose the soft shadow.

Pale products on a pale stone
A white jar, a frosted bottle or a silver bracelet has little contrast with white marble. The edge is carried by the shadow alone. If the outline is hard to read, a three-quarter angle or the soft contact shadow gives the product a clearer base.
Photographing a product for a marble scene.
- Stand the product on any plain surface and photograph it straight on, sharp from edge to edge, with the whole of it inside the frame.
- Turn off the flash and move away from windows that mirror in glass or polished metal; glare hides the label or the dial underneath it.
- Take the product out of its box and remove film or tags, and add a close-up of small lettering so it is legible in the source.
Marble background product photos, answered.
Do I need a marble surface at home?
No. The product can be photographed on a table, a shelf or a sheet of paper. The scene is chosen afterwards, and the tool is briefed to use only the product from the photo, leaving out the surface it stood on.
Which angle suits a marble image?
Front and three-quarter views show a bottle or a jar standing on the stone. Top-down suits flat pieces such as a necklace, a compact or a watch laid open, where the marble becomes the whole background. The side view is there for profiles, such as a shoe.
Is the marble the same in every image?
The scene is marble each time, and the veining is drawn for each image, so two results are not identical slabs. For a row of products that should match closely, studio white, grey or beige gives a more uniform set.
