Crew-neck sweatshirts in shape, with no mannequin in the room.
A sweatshirt is a plain shape, so the image depends on proportion: the width of the body, the set of the shoulder and the ribbed bands that close neck, cuffs and hem. Herofab gives the garment a 3D invisible-mannequin form from a flat or hanger photo, or delivers it as a clean flat lay.
Where a crew neck can go wrong.
- 1
The neckband
With no hood in the way, the ribbed crew neck is the top of the image, and the inside back neck shows behind it with its tape and label. That inner area is rendered from what the photo offers. Check that the band is an even width all round, and read any neck label that appears.

Shoulder seam and sleeve
A raglan sleeve runs to the neck in a diagonal line; a set-in sleeve stops at the shoulder; a drop shoulder sits below it. The 3D shape fills the sleeves, and the seam should stay on the line the garment has. Compare left with right, since a hanger pulls the two unevenly.

Chest print and rib bands
A printed or embroidered chest graphic is briefed to stay as photographed, at its size and its distance from the neck. Then look low: the hem band and the cuffs are separate ribbed pieces, and each should still be visibly ribbed and as deep as on the garment.
Photographing a sweatshirt flat or hung.
- Lay it face up on a bed or a floor, pull the shoulders square and angle the sleeves down and outward so the underarm is not creased.
- Flatten the neckband into an even oval and tuck the label inside; a twisted band is copied as a twisted band.
- Keep the hem rib and both cuffs in the frame, and photograph the reverse when there is artwork between the shoulders.
Ghost mannequin for sweatshirts, answered.
Is the inside of the neck visible on a crew-neck sweatshirt?
In the 3D invisible-mannequin style, yes: the neck is open and a strip of the inside back shows behind the front band. A front photo rarely records it, so the tool renders it from what it can read. Choose the flat-lay style when the garment should be shown closed and flat instead.
Will an oversized sweatshirt look oversized?
The result follows the photo: a wide body and a dropped shoulder in the source are the shape the tool is briefed to carry over. Lay the sweatshirt at its full width without folding the sides under. The image is not a size guide; chest width and length belong in the size chart.
What backdrop keeps a grey marl sweatshirt from disappearing?
Grey marl on the grey backdrop gives little separation, so white, beige or black are the clearer grounds for it. Black works for pale and bright fleece, and white matches a catalogue kept on white. The backdrop is set for each image, so one garment can be delivered on more than one.
