A seaside shoot, without the trip.

Summer collections are sold with sea and rock behind them, and the weather on a shoot day is never certain. Herofab places a model wearing the garment on seaside rocks or a wooden pier from a single product photo, and is briefed to keep the fabric, the cut and the print as they are.

Worth knowing

What a coastal image has to respect.

  1. 1

    Colour under sea light

Light by the water is strong and often warm. White linen can drift towards cream and navy towards black once the sun is low. The product is briefed to keep its true colour, so hold the garment next to the screen and compare before the image goes into a listing.

  2. 2

A pose that belongs to the place

On rocks a model sits or leans; on a pier she walks or stands at the rail. A sitting pose folds a dress across the lap and shortens the hem, so order a standing pose of the same model as well when the length is what sells the piece.

  3. 3

    Wind, drape and thin fabric

Light fabrics are drawn with some movement in an outdoor scene. Movement suits a beach dress and can mislead on a structured piece. Look at the hem, the straps and any see-through layer, and see that a lining has not turned into an outer layer.

Source photo

The product photo for a seaside image.

  • Photograph the garment on a hanger or laid flat, the whole piece in the frame, in even daylight without a coloured wall reflecting onto it.
  • Spread straps, ties and belts so each one can be followed from end to end; a strap tucked behind the garment is missing from the source.
  • Add a photo of the back when the back is open, crossed or tied, since a seated or turned pose can bring it into view.
Questions

AI fashion photos at the seaside, answered.

Which seaside settings can be chosen?

Two of the locations are on the coast: seaside rocks and a wooden pier. Each can be used with the scene's own light, morning light, golden hour or an overcast sky. The same model can be ordered in several poses in the same place, so the images read as one shoot.

Should the seaside image be the first image of a listing?

Keep a plain product image first and place the location image after it. A coastal scene sets the season and the mood; the plain image is where a buyer reads the cut and the colour without a background competing for attention.

Does golden hour suit every garment?

It flatters warm colours and bare skin, and it is hardest on white, black and cool blues, which it tints. For those, the scene's own light or an overcast sky keeps the shade closer to the fabric. Order one image, compare the colour, then order the rest of the set.
