Number of images

How many images a listing may or must carry. Marketplaces set a maximum per product or variant, and some recommend a minimum.

Also called image count · image slots · gallery images

Every listing has one main image and a row of additional ones. The count matters in both directions: with too few, a shopper cannot see the back, the detail or the product in use; with too many of the same view, the gallery repeats itself. Where a marketplace recommends a minimum, it marks the floor of a complete listing and not a target.

A useful gallery gives each slot one job: the plain front view, the back, a detail of the fabric or the hardware, the product worn or in use, and the colour variants. On-model images, further poses and close-ups can be produced from one product photo, so the slots a marketplace offers can be filled from a single source.
