SHOPLINE product images, upright and consistent.
SHOPLINE recommends a two-by-three vertical ratio for product images and advises one ratio for them all. Herofab has no two-by-three; its three-by-four portrait is the closest upright format. The product studio delivers a store's products in that one shape, in a studio or styled scene, wider than the width SHOPLINE recommends.
Where Herofab and SHOPLINE differ, and where they agree.
- 1
A recommended ratio Herofab lacks
SHOPLINE can display product images as square, vertical two-by-three, horizontal four-by-three or in their original ratio, and it recommends the vertical one. Herofab has no two-by-three format. Its three-by-four portrait is the closest upright shape, and SHOPLINE can show it in its original ratio. Square is offered by both.
- 2
Consistency before the exact shape
SHOPLINE advises a consistent ratio across all product images. Choosing the three-by-four portrait or the square for the whole store follows that advice even without two-by-three. In 2K both shapes are wider than the width SHOPLINE recommends, while the height of the portrait stays below the recommended two-by-three size.
- 3
JPG, and a weight for performance
SHOPLINE recommends keeping a file under a stated weight for optimal performance and advises JPG over PNG for faster loading; it also recommends modern formats such as WebP whenever possible. Herofab images download as PNG or JPG, so the JPG is the file for a SHOPLINE store. Themes resize images automatically when loading.

Photographing for an upright SHOPLINE image.
- Hold the phone upright and photograph the product standing on its base, a bottle, a boot or a table lamp, so that it runs through a portrait frame from top to bottom.
- Low, wide products such as a clutch or a pair of sunglasses sit small in an upright frame; photograph them straight on and weigh whether the square, used for the entire store, suits the range more.
- Decide which view is to be the cover and photograph it first with the product complete; the first image uploaded to SHOPLINE becomes the cover shown in the product list and in collections.
Product photos for SHOPLINE, answered.
Does Herofab deliver SHOPLINE's recommended two-by-three ratio?
No. Herofab's formats do not include two-by-three; the three-by-four portrait is the closest upright one. SHOPLINE also displays square images and images in their original ratio, and it advises a consistent ratio across all product images. A store can therefore run on three-by-four or on square throughout. The recommended ratio and its sizes are in the table on this page.
Which image becomes the cover on SHOPLINE?
The first image uploaded. It is shown in the product list and in collections, and dragging another image to the first position changes it. Upload the plainest whole view first: the product on a studio ground, centred, at the same angle for every product. Scenes on marble, wood or linen, or in a home setting, can follow in the later positions.
How many images can one SHOPLINE variant have?
SHOPLINE's Variants Multiple Images feature allows a limited number of images for a single variant, and bulk imports accept far more per product; both counts are in the table on this page. ALT text can be added to each product image, and in bulk imports text beyond a character limit is truncated. Herofab's Colour variants tool makes the images of further colours from one product photo.
