- 1,200 × 674 pixels is the best-practice recommendation; the minimum is 400 × 350 pixels, and smaller images serve in fewer placements
- Aspect ratio
- 16:9 preferred, with 4:3 and 1:1 also listed; the ad preview shows 16:9, 6:5, 2:1, 1:1 and 1.91:1 crops
- Formats
- JPEG, BMP, PNG, WBMP and GIF are accepted; JPEG is preferred
- File size
- 5 MB maximum per image file
- Cropping
- Images are cropped automatically unless the crop is adjusted manually, which Taboola recommends; choose an image with a single clear point of focus and a relatively plain background
- Text on images
- Avoid images that include brand logos or layers of text; they may not crop well and can end up off-centre
- Not allowed
- Thumbnails must not be misleading, show before/after photos, be of poor quality or very low resolution, or feature celebrities or politicians for a product or service without documented permission
- Carousel
- 3 to 5 cards per carousel ad; 1,200 × 627 pixel images are the best practice on desktop and mobile
- AI images
- Tick the AI content box when an image was created or substantially edited with generative AI; an AI label is shown in markets that require disclosure, and AI likenesses of real, identifiable people are not permitted
