Open the delivered image at full size and read each word against the watch. A close-up of the dial added to the upload gives the tool more to work from. 2. ### Reflections on the crystal A watch crystal mirrors the room: a window, a ceiling lamp or the phone itself can sit across the dial as a white patch. The packshot is briefed to follow the product in the photo, and a dial hidden under glare is a dial that was never recorded. Tilt the watch slightly until the glass clears. 3. ### Strap open or closed A strap laid open and flat shows its full length, the buckle and the holes; a bracelet closed in a loop shows the watch as it sits on the wrist. Both are valid packshots. Check the pattern of the links, the clasp and the lug ends where the strap meets the case. ## Photographing a watch for a packshot. - Wipe the crystal and the case with a soft cloth; fingerprints and dust are sharp at packshot size and belong to the photo, not to the background. - Set the hands where they cover neither the logo nor the date window, and push the crown in before the shot. - Lay the watch on a plain matt surface near a window, with the phone slightly off to one side so that neither it nor a lamp is mirrored in the glass. ## White background for watches, answered. **Will the lettering on the dial stay readable?** Herofab is briefed to keep printed text, logos and indices as they are in the photo, and small text is the detail to check first. A dial is small text throughout, so compare the brand name, the sub-dial markings and any line of script with the watch, and add a sharp close-up of the dial when uploading. **Should the strap be laid flat or buckled for the photo?** Either, as long as the whole strap is inside the frame. Laid open, a leather strap shows its stitching and buckle; closed in its own loop, a metal bracelet keeps its curve. A strap that runs out of the frame or folds under the case cannot be added back faithfully. **Can I photograph the watch in its presentation box?** Yes, provided the watch itself is fully visible. The box, the cushion and a tag are not a problem, since the tool is briefed to use the watch alone.
