# Vests and waistcoats, worn by a studio model.

Sleeveless pieces are defined by their openings: the depth of the V, the cut of the armhole, the line of the hem. Herofab dresses a studio model in a tailored waistcoat, a knitted vest or a padded gilet from one photo and is briefed to keep its fabric, buttons and pockets.

## What defines a vest in an image.

1. ### Armholes and neckline

With no sleeves, the armhole edge is on show: bound, ribbed, raw or faced. See that it is finished as on the garment and that no sleeve or cap has been added. Then compare the V or the round neck for depth, since it decides how much of a layer beneath would be visible.
2. ### Front closure and hem

A waistcoat ends in two points below the last button, a knitted vest in a straight rib, a gilet in a zip and often a stand collar. Count the buttons or follow the zip to the top, and confirm that the hem shape belongs to the right kind of vest.
3. ### Back panel and adjuster

Tailored waistcoats often have a satin back and a buckled strap, which a front photo never shows. Quilted gilets carry their channel stitching round to the back. For either, the back needs its own photo, and the result needs a look at the buckle and the stitching.

## Photographing a vest on its own.

- Hang the vest alone, with no shirt underneath, so the armholes and the neckline are clean edges and not overlaps.
- Fasten every button or the full zip, square the shoulders on the hanger, and make sure the hem points or the rib sit level.
- Turn it round for a second photo if the back is a different fabric or has an adjuster, and take a close-up of welt pockets or a knitted pattern.

## Virtual try-on for vests, answered.

**Should the vest be photographed over a shirt?**

No. The source photo should show a single item, and a shirt beneath a vest overlaps it at the armholes, the neckline and the hem, the very edges that define the piece. Photograph the vest by itself on a hanger or laid flat, so that every edge in the picture belongs to the product.

**Is the back of a waistcoat shown, with its strap and buckle?**

It can be. Add a photo of the back to the required front photo, and the two views can be ordered together as one set. The buckle is hardware and the satin panel is a second fabric; both are briefed to be kept, and both are small enough to merit a comparison with the waistcoat.

**Can a unisex vest be shown on a male and a female model?**

Yes. A created model is defined by gender, age range, ethnicity, body type and hair, and ready-made models are available as well. The same source photo can be ordered on more than one model, each as its own image, and a model saved to the library can be reused for the next vest.

**How much does it cost?**

5 credits per image, plus one credit for 4K. The cost is shown before you generate, and if a job fails the credits are returned. The 20 free credits at sign-up cover 4 images with this tool.
