# T-shirts on a model, from a flat-lay photo.

A T-shirt is a simple garment, which is why small errors show: a neckline that sits too wide, a chest print that drifts off-centre. Herofab dresses a studio model in the tee from one phone photo and is briefed to keep the collar rib, the graphic and the sleeve length.

## What a T-shirt image has to get right.

1. ### Neckline and collar rib

Crew, V or scoop, and how wide the binding is: buyers read the neckline first. Compare the depth of the neck opening with the tee in hand, because a collar that sagged on the hanger can come out lower than it is sewn.
2. ### Print placement and small lettering

A chest graphic has a position: how far below the collar it starts and how wide it runs between the armholes. Where the print can be matched it is carried over from the photo; where it cannot, it is redrawn, so read every line of small text before the image goes live.
3. ### Sleeve, hem and cut

Sleeve length, a turned cuff, a curved or straight hem and a boxy or fitted body are what separate one blank tee from another. The fit on the model follows the size chosen, from XS to XXL, and is not a measurement of how the tee sits on a real body.

## Photographing a T-shirt as the source.

- Lay the T-shirt flat on a bed or a plain sheet, smooth the chest so the print lies undistorted, and shoot from directly above.
- Spread both sleeves away from the body and pull the hem straight; a sleeve tucked underneath is a part the result cannot copy faithfully.
- If the back carries a graphic, a slogan or a neck print, add a back photo, and add a close-up when the front design has thin lines or small type.

## Virtual try-on for T-shirts, answered.

**Will a large chest graphic stay where it is printed?**

The image is briefed to keep the print in its place and at its scale. A graphic that can be matched is carried over from the source photo; one that cannot is redrawn. Compare its distance from the collar and its outer edges against the real tee, and look closely at thin outlines and halftone shading.

**Can the same tee be shown on a slim and a plus-size model?**

Yes. A created model can have a slim, average, curvy or plus body type, and sizes run from XS to XXL. Each combination is a separate image. The fit shown follows the size picked and is not a fitting on a real person, so the size chart on the listing still does the measuring.

**Which pose suits a printed T-shirt?**

A standing, front-facing pose keeps the whole chest towards the camera, which is where a graphic needs to be read. Arms crossed covers the artwork and suits plain tees only. A three-quarter or walking frame of the same model can be ordered alongside the front view.

**How much does it cost?**

5 credits per image, plus one credit for 4K. The cost is shown before you generate, and if a job fails the credits are returned. The 20 free credits at sign-up cover 4 images with this tool.
