# Shirts on a model, collar, placket and cuffs in view.

A woven shirt is judged on its collar, its button line and the way a stripe or check runs across the front. Herofab's virtual try-on puts the shirt from a hanger photo on a studio model and is briefed to keep those parts as they were sewn.

## Where a shirt image is read closely.

1. ### Collar type and stand

Spread, button-down, band or camp collar: each sits differently at the neck, and the stand decides how high it rises. Look at the collar points and at whether the top button appears fastened or open, since that is how the buyer will imagine wearing it.
2. ### Placket and button count

The front placket is a straight line from collar to hem, and the buttons along it can be counted. Count them on the delivered image against the shirt itself, and see that a chest pocket, where there is one, sits on the correct side.
3. ### Stripes, checks and cuffs

Patterned shirting shows any drift: stripes should run true down the front and checks should hold their scale across the sleeve. Barrel cuffs, double cuffs and the sleeve placket are small parts, worth viewing at full size before the listing is updated.

## Photographing a shirt on its hanger.

- Choose a hanger wide enough for the shoulders, fasten the placket up to the collar or leave only the top button open, and face the camera square to the chest.
- Let the sleeves fall straight at the sides with the cuffs buttoned and visible, not rolled up or folded behind the body.
- For a fine weave such as a small check or a narrow stripe, add a close-up of the collar and the first buttons.

## Virtual try-on for shirts, answered.

**Can a shirt worn open over a T-shirt be used as the source?**

The app guidance asks for one item, fully visible, without anything overlapping it. A shirt worn open over another top hides part of its own front and puts two garments in one photo. Photograph the shirt alone and buttoned, on a hanger or laid flat, and the whole placket is there to be read.

**Do fine stripes and small checks survive on a model?**

The try-on is briefed to keep the cloth, pattern included. A pattern that can be matched is taken from the photo, and one that cannot is redrawn. Narrow stripes and micro-checks count as detailed prints in that sense: zoom in on the chest, the collar and the sleeve before the image is used.

**Can short-sleeved and long-sleeved versions share one model?**

Yes. A model can be saved to the library and used across a whole collection, so each sleeve length, colour or cloth is photographed once and ordered on the same person. Every version needs its own source photo, since the image follows the shirt in the picture.

**How much does it cost?**

5 credits per image, plus one credit for 4K. The cost is shown before you generate, and if a job fails the credits are returned. The 20 free credits at sign-up cover 4 images with this tool.
