# Jackets on a model, shot on a hanger at home.

Bomber, denim, biker, puffer, shacket: the word jacket covers many constructions, each with its own hardware and collar. Herofab reads the jacket from one straight-on photo and dresses a studio model in it, briefed to keep the material, the zips and snaps and the pocket layout.

## What a jacket photo needs to show.

1. ### Zips, snaps and buckles

Hardware is where jackets differ most: an asymmetric biker zip, a two-way zip, press studs under a storm flap, a buckle at the hem. Go over each piece of metal on the delivered image, sleeve zips and pullers included, and compare its finish, silver, brass or black, with the real one.
2. ### Collar, cuffs and hem band

A rib-knit collar and waistband make a bomber; a pointed collar and buttoned cuffs make a trucker; a stand collar makes a racer. See that the collar type is unchanged and that ribbed or elasticated bands still gather the waist and wrists.
3. ### Surface: leather, denim, quilting

Leather grain, denim wash and fading, and the stitch lines of a quilted shell are the material itself. Quilting channels should keep their direction and width, and seams such as a denim yoke or chest pocket flaps should sit where the pattern puts them.

## Getting a jacket ready for the camera.

- Hang the jacket on a sturdy hanger so the shoulders hold their shape, and close the main zip or snaps to the height at which it should be seen.
- Flatten the collar or stand it up as intended, bring the sleeves forward of the side seams, and empty the pockets so flaps and welts lie flat.
- Add a back photo for a yoke, an embroidered panel or a printed back, and a close-up of the zip puller or a branded snap.

## Virtual try-on for jackets, answered.

**Can the jacket be worn open on the model?**

The source photo is the reference, so photograph the jacket the way it should appear. Hung open, it shows its lining and inner facing; closed, it shows the full zip line and hides the inside. Decide between the two before the shoot, and verify on the result that the front matches the photo.

**How do glossy nylon and polished leather look in outdoor light?**

On outdoor locations the light can be the scene's own, morning, golden hour or overcast, and the jacket's material and colour are briefed to stay the same under each. Shiny surfaces reflect their surroundings, so compare the highlights and the depth of colour with the real jacket.

**Is a jacket on a shop mannequin acceptable as the source?**

Yes. A mannequin, a hanger, a flat lay or a worn photo all work, provided the jacket is the only item, fully visible and shot straight on. A mannequin has the advantage of filling the shoulders and sleeves. Take scarves and other garments off it first, since overlapping items are to be avoided.

**How much does it cost?**

5 credits per image, plus one credit for 4K. The cost is shown before you generate, and if a job fails the credits are returned. The 20 free credits at sign-up cover 4 images with this tool.
