# Bucket hats worn, brim sloping as it should.

A bucket hat is soft all the way round: a deep crown, a short brim that slopes downward and no stiffening to hold either in place. Herofab places the hat on a studio model's head and is briefed to keep the angle of the brim, the depth of the crown and the rows of stitching that give the brim its body.

## What a bucket-hat image needs to show.

1. ### Slope and width of the brim

The brim of a bucket hat points down, not out, and that separates it from a sun hat. See that the brim in the image falls at a similar angle on every side, that its concentric rows of topstitching are still present, and that it has not been widened into a flat disc or cut back to a narrow rim.
2. ### Crown depth and eyelets

A deep crown sits low on the head; a shallow one perches. Compare the height of the side panel with the hat, then find the eyelets: usually a pair on each side, metal or embroidered. Herofab is briefed to keep them, and their number and position are quick to verify against the product.
3. ### How low the brim sits

Worn, the brim shades the brow and can hide the eyes. A buyer wants to see the hat and a face beneath it. Look at where the brim edge crosses the forehead, whether the eyes remain visible, and how much of each ear the brim leaves uncovered.

## Photographing a bucket hat so it holds its shape.

- Fill the crown with tissue or a small towel until the top is level and the brim hangs at its own angle, then set the hat on a plain surface.
- Hold the phone a little above brim height with the front of the hat towards it, so the crown wall and the full circle of the brim are both in the picture.
- For a reversible hat, turn out the side that should be seen as the outside, and press away the fold line that packing leaves across the brim.

## Virtual try-on for bucket hats, answered.

**Can both sides of a reversible bucket hat be shown?**

Each side is a different outside, so treat each as its own image. Turn the hat to the side that should face out, photograph it and order the try-on; then reverse it and repeat. A pattern that appears in no photo cannot be reproduced faithfully, and the image is briefed to keep the side the photo shows.

**Does a patterned or terry bucket hat keep its surface?**

Herofab is briefed to keep the fabric and the print as photographed. Where a print can be matched it is carried over from the photo; where it cannot, it is redrawn. On a hat the pattern bends round the crown and down the brim, so compare the scale of the motif, and the pile of terry or corduroy, at full size.

**Will the brim cover the model's eyes?**

The hat is placed as it would be worn, and a downward brim sits close to the brow. If the delivered image hides more of the face than the listing should, a looking-away or three-quarter pose shows the profile of the brim instead, and the close-up pose brings the hat nearer. Judge each result before it is published.

**How much does it cost?**

5 credits per image, plus one credit for 4K. The cost is shown before you generate, and if a job fails the credits are returned. The 20 free credits at sign-up cover 4 images with this tool.
