The cut-out is briefed to keep fine hair. Place the result on a dark and on a light colour and look for a halo of the old background or strands clipped short. 2. ### Gaps between arm and body A hand on the hip, a bag strap, the space between the legs and the loop of a belt each enclose a patch of background. Every patch has to become transparent, white or grey as well. These islands are easy to miss at thumbnail size, so zoom in on each enclosed opening. 3. ### Shoes, floor and the lost shadow The floor is background, and the shadow the model cast on it leaves with it. On white or grey the figure can then look as if it hovers. Check that the soles are cut along a clean line with nothing of the old floor left under them, and add a new shadow in the layout if the image needs one. ## An on-model image that cuts out cleanly. - Stand the model in front of a plain wall whose tone differs from both the hair and the garment, a step or two away from it so that no shadow lands on the wall. - Keep the whole figure inside the frame when the full outfit is the subject, with space above the head and below the shoes. - Tie back or smooth flyaway hair that is not part of the look, and keep the hands clear of the body where the silhouette of the garment matters. ## Remove background from model photos, answered. **Does the cut-out keep the model's own shadow on the floor?** No. A shadow on the floor belongs to the background and is removed with it, while shading on the garment and the body stays. On a transparent result a designer can add a soft shadow under the feet; on white or grey, check whether the figure still reads as standing. **Which result suits a lookbook page with several models?** A transparent PNG. Several cut-out figures can be arranged on one page, overlapped or set on a brand colour, since nothing surrounds them. White or grey suits an image that goes into a listing as it is. Any result can be downloaded in marketplace sizes without cropping. **Is the model's face or body altered by the cut-out?** No. Removing the background does not redraw the person or the garment; pose, skin, hair and fit are those of the photo.
