# Check your photo against OTTO's rules.

OTTO sets rules for the main image that can be measured from the photo: background colour. Drop a photo to see which ones it meets. It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

- **Main image:** Light, neutral background
- **Format:** JPG or PNG, RGB colour space (CMYK is not accepted)
- **Size:** At least 480 × 960 pixels; at most 4,500 pixels on any side
- **Number:** At least one image per variant, no more than 10
- **Main image:** Cut out, or on a light, neutral background such as light grey, white, off-white or light beige

## How each rule is measured.

- **Background colour:** The background colour is the median of a thin band along all four edges. A pure-white rule passes only when that band is RGB 255, 255, 255; near-white values such as 253 are reported with their exact colour.
- **Scene photos:** Room and lifestyle photos have no plain background to measure against, so fill, edges and shadow are marked as not measured rather than guessed.

**What background does OTTO require for the main image?**

Light, neutral background. The checker reads the background from the edges of the photo and reports its exact RGB value.

**What size should OTTO product images be?**

JPG or PNG, at least 480 × 960 pixels, at most 4,500 pixels per side, RGB; the main image cut out or on a light, neutral background.
