Under a low sun, optical white moves towards cream, cream towards yellow, and pale blue or lilac towards grey. The brief is to keep the product's colour; the check is to hold the garment beside the screen, in daylight, before the image is used. 2. ### Metallic and glossy fabric Sequins, lamé, satin and coated cloth reflect the sun instead of absorbing it. A silver fabric can read as gold and a gold one as copper; satin picks up a bright streak along every fold. See that the reflections look like light on the fabric and that the base colour is still the one being sold. 3. ### Long shadows and one bright side Low light arrives from one direction. One side of the garment is lit and the other falls into shade, which gives shape to drape and pleats and can hide a pocket, a seam or a dark print on the shaded side. Give the shaded half the same attention as the lit one. ## The source photo for a warm-light image. - Photograph the garment in neutral daylight, away from a lamp or a sunset window; a source that is already warm leaves no neutral colour to refer to. - Show the whole piece flat or on a hanger with nothing overlapping it, so the side that will be lit and the side that will be shaded are both recorded. - Add a close-up of sequins, foil print or metallic thread, since reflective surfaces are where warm light changes the most. ## Golden-hour fashion photos, answered. **Can golden hour be used on a studio background?** No. Light is a setting for location images: on seaside rocks, a wooden pier, a city street, a Mediterranean village, a café terrace or in a garden, a chosen light replaces the scene's own. On studio white and studio grey the light setting is not used. **How do buyers see the real colour if the image is warm?** Keep one studio image of the same product in the listing. A plain studio background presents the colour without a warm cast, and the golden-hour image adds mood beside it. Name the colour in the listing text as well, and compare both images with the garment so they do not appear to show different shades. **Does black stay black at golden hour?** Warm light can push black and charcoal towards brown, most of all on matt cloth. The image is briefed to keep the product's colour, and dark shades are where a drift is easiest to miss on a small screen.
