- **Recommended:** Images 660–1,320 pixels wide in the new builder and 600–1,200 pixels wide in the legacy builder; Mailchimp resizes an image to fit the content block it is added to
- **Template width:** Templates in the new builder are 660 pixels wide and legacy email templates are 600 pixels wide
- **File size:** A maximum of 1 MB per image is recommended; the content studio takes uploads of images up to 1 MB each and other file types up to 10 MB each
- **Formats:** PNG, JPG or GIF, with PNG to maintain transparency; the content studio supports JPG, JPE, JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP image files
- **Column widths:** Recommended minimum image widths in the new builder are 660 pixels for full-width sections, 330 for 2 columns, 220 for 3 columns and 165 for 4 columns; in the legacy builder 564, 264, 164 and 132 pixels
- **Retina displays:** In the new builder a minimum of 660 pixels is recommended, doubled to a minimum of 1,320 pixels for images to look good on retina displays
- **Colour mode:** RGB colour mode or profile; CMYK doesn't render accurately online and can break an embedded image
- **Resolution:** 72 DPI is generally enough for the web, but isn't required
- **Logo:** In the legacy builder default logo blocks match the dimensions of an Image content block, with a recommended minimum image width of 564 pixels
- **Landing pages:** For a landing page set to 100% width, images between 1,500 and 2,500 pixels wide are recommended; images larger than 2,500 pixels may not be resized properly

## What Mailchimp asks for, covered.

Mailchimp recommends images 660 to 1,320 pixels wide in its new builder and files of 1 MB or less. Herofab's square 2K output is 2,048 pixels wide and heavier than 1 MB, so it has to be resized and compressed before upload; the JPG download is the lighter file. For a full-width landing page Mailchimp recommends 1,500 to 2,500 pixels, and a 2,048-pixel image is inside that range.

### Resize for email

Square 2K output is 2,048 pixels wide, above the 1,320 pixels Mailchimp recommends for retina displays.

### Under 1 MB

The content studio takes images up to 1 MB; a 2K file is heavier and has to be compressed.

### Inside the landing page range

A 2,048-pixel image is inside the 1,500 to 2,500 pixels recommended for a full-width landing page.
