# Collage image

One image file that combines several pictures, such as a front and a back view or several colours side by side. Many marketplaces do not allow it.

Also called **image collage** · **multi-view image** · **photo grid**

A collage looks efficient: a single slot shows several angles or every colour at once. On a marketplace it causes problems. Each picture inside it is small, the thumbnail becomes unreadable, zoom enlarges a grid instead of a product, and a shopper cannot tell which of the items shown is the one for sale.

Rules against collages are usually worded as one product and one view per image, or as a ban on several products or several colour variants in one picture. The gallery is the intended place for more: one image per angle, and one image per colour linked to its variant.

Splitting a collage back into its parts rarely gives usable images, because each part is too small. The better route is to produce every view as an image of its own from the source photos, at full size, and to let the listing's gallery and variant selector do the arranging.

## Collage image, answered.

**Can I put the front and back view of a product in one image?**

On many marketplaces no, at least not in the main image. Rules that ask for one product and one view per image exclude a front and a back side by side, and each half would be too small for zoom anyway. The usual place for the back view is the second image of the gallery; where a marketplace is more lenient with additional images, its own rule says so.

**Is a photo of a product set or bundle a collage?**

No. A set that is sold together and photographed in a single shot is one picture of one offer, while a collage joins several separate pictures in one file. A listing for a set normally shows the set, since the image is meant to show what the buyer receives. Rules on several products in one image differ, and the marketplace's wording decides.
